Professor Paul Flanagan has been selected as a Fulbright Specialist by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs for the next three years.
As a Fulbright Specialist, Flanagan will be available to consult with faculty and students at academic institutions around the world to craft integrated strategies for addressing cybersecurity, privacy and compliance concerns.
Flanagan, who directs the law school’s Compliance program, will lend expertise he has developed over decades of experience leading compliance efforts at major institutions to educators who are scrambling to train new professionals to respond to data breaches and changing regulations in the digital world.
During his tenure as a Fulbright Specialist, Flanagan will train faculty and students in law and business to encourage transparency and synergies between compliance, privacy and cybersecurity professionals, who tend to operate in silos.
“Strategically integrated cybersecurity, privacy and compliance operations benefit businesses and consumers around the globe,” Flanagan said. “It behooves those of us who’ve been in the trenches for some time to share our insights with international educators in the worlds of law and business.”
