3Ls Yvette Tyson and Joshua Benjamin and 1Ls Alex Kungu and Elizabeth Yoder took Third Place at the Black Law Students Association’s National Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition on March 11.
The national competition followed six regional competitions in which teams from more than 100 law schools participated.
The students had won Third Place in the Mid-Atlantic Region, where Tyson was named Best Advocate. The team was coached by alumna Laquan Lightfoot, ’14, an assistant district attorney in Philadelphia.
Members of the Trial Team advanced to the Semi-Finals in the American Association for Justice Student Trial Advocacy Regional Competition, also on March 11.
3L Taylor Gerchman was joined by 2Ls Jessica Falkenstein, Najah Jacobs, and BreAnne Pospiech on the team, who were coached by Ellis Palividas, an assistant district attorney, in Philadelphia and alumna Abbie Heller, ’14, of the Defender Association of Philadelphia.
