3L Jill Schroeder, 2L Rachel Holt and 3Ls Kelsey Ashworth and Katrina Mavroudis won the National Finals of the American Association for Justice Student Trial Advocacy Competition in New Orleans on April 3.
The National Finals pitted the top teams from 14 regional competitions, each of which featured 16 teams. The team won the regional championship in March, which featured teams from Duquesne, Pennsylvania State, Rutgers, Seton Hall, SUNY at Buffalo, Temple, Pittsburgh, Villanova and Widener universities.
“This is an exceptionally tough competition, and this victory makes us very proud of our students and their alumni coaches,” said Trial Advocacy Program Director Gwen Roseman Stern.
The team was coached by attorneys Abbie Heller, ’14, and Carla Wasko, ’12.
The win capped a strong season for the Trial Team, which also won the Texas Young Lawyers Association Regional Competition and reached the quarter finals in several other contests.
