Professor Anil Kalhan discussed the intersection of criminal law and immigration enforcement at the Denver University Law Review Symposium on Feb. 6.
The symposium explored the growing convergence of criminal law and immigration law, which were once separate areas of law but have become intertwined through political, social and legal developments.
Joining panelists from Yale Law School, the University of Denver and the Meyer Law Office, Kalhan focused on congressional mandates for maintaining a quota of immigrants in privately operated jails.
An authority on this emerging field of law, Kalhan’s recent scholarship on immigration surveillance and immigration policing has appeared in the Maryland Law Review and the Ohio State Law Journal.
