Known for his insights about the U.S. Constitution and his scholarship in gender and the law, Professor David S. Cohen also writes about the Philadelphia Phillies with the enthusiasm of an unapologetic fan.
Cohen has contributed to The Good Phight blog for nearly eight years but has stepped up his game by writing three articles appearing in a preseason guide published by Lindy’s Sports and producing content for the online Big Leagues Magazine (subscription required).
For the preseason publication, “In the Dugout – Phillies 2013,” Cohen wrote a summary of the team’s disappointing 2012 season, an appraisal of shortstop Jimmy Rollins and a reflection on the Citizens Bank Park sellout streak that lasted from 2009 until 2012.
In 2013, Cohen predicts, the Phillies will face significant hurdles.
“There are a lot of holes on their team and they need everything to go right,” said Cohen, who has firsthand experience with pulling off a baseball miracle. At a 2010 Phillies game against the Washington Nationals, the professor fielded a foul ball with a spectacular, over-the-railing one-handed catch that the Comcast Sports Network telecast along with play-by-play commentary.
