The law school community is deeply saddened by the death of Professor J. Hunter Tart, a member of the visiting faculty.

Professor Tart, who joined the law school community in August, died on March 11 after a brief illness.

In the all too brief time Professor Tart taught at the school, he made positive contributions to the Intellectual Property Program and the lives of students, teaching International Intellectual Property Law, Trademarks & Unfair Competition and Patents.

Before coming to the school, he clerked for Judge Pauline Newman of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and for Judge John G. Koeltl of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Professor Tart received his JD from New York University School of Law, where he was executive editor of the New York University Law Review. He received an MS in Mathematics from Stanford University and a BS in Mathematics, summa cum laude, from Wake Forest University.
