3L Shari Berger Kulanu returned from 9th Annual National Animal Law Competition presented by the Lewis & Clark Law School’s Center for Animal Law Studies on Feb. 26 with a pair of first place awards.
The event, which took place at the UCLA School of Law, is broken up into three competitions testing legislative drafting and lobbying, oral argument and appellate advocacy. Each competition provides law students from across the United States an opportunity to develop knowledge in the field of animal law while developing their written and oral advocacy skills. This year, more than 70 law student competitors from almost 30 law schools competed in the competition.
Kulanu won the Legislative Drafting & Lobbying Competition, and also received an award for Best Bill and Fact Sheet.
