Major Mike Richardson is an Instructor for the Fire Department Safety Officers Association (FDSOA) and is a 38-year veteran of the military and the fire and rescue service. He has been involved with the fire service at a national level through instructing at fire service conferences like FDIC and Fire-Rescue International (FRI), authoring articles in publications like Fire Engineering and FIREHOUSE, and serving on the Board of Directors for the FDSOA and the International Society of Fire Service Instructors (ISFSI).

Major Richardson has served with fire departments in New York, Florida, and Kentucky, and retired as the Division Chief of Training and Safety for the St. Matthews Fire Department in Louisville, Kentucky. He has also served on the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Electronic Safety Equipment and Fire Service Training Committees. He is a graduate of the Eastern Kentucky University Fire Science and Loss Prevention & Safety programs.
