Director, Drexel University Fire and Emergency Services

Chief (Ret.) David Hollinger is the Director for Fire and Emergency Services at Drexel University. He is responsible for the University's fire and life safety and emergency preparedness programs. He also liaisons with and advises Drexel EMS, a volunteer student organization that provides emergency medical care to the main campus as a Pennsylvania certified Quick Response Service (QRS).

Chief Hollinger previously served as a firefighter with the Alexandria Fire Department in Virginia; as a firefighter, sergeant, and lieutenant in operations and later as Program Manager for technical fire code enforcement with the District of Columbia Fire Department; as Fire Protection and Life Safety Technician for Dover Motorsports in Delaware; and as chief of the Reading Department of Fire and Rescue Services in Reading, Pennsylvania.

Designated as an Executive Fire Officer (EFO) by the United States Fire Administration (USFA), he is certified in public management (CPM), fire protection (CFPS & CLSS-HC), emergency management (CEM®), business continuity (CBCP), fire investigation (IAAI-FIT®), instructional techniques, fire code inspection (ICC-FI I/II, FPE), and emergency medicine (PA-EMT).

Chief Hollinger received a BS in Fire Science Administration and a MPA in Public Administration from the University of the District of Columbia. He attended professional executive programs at the Emergency Management Institute in Emmitsburg, Maryland; Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California; and International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) Fire Service Executive Development Institute (FSEDI). He also holds memberships in many professional organizations including several National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Technical Committees.
