2022 Delta Omega Innovative Curriculum Honorable Mention
In 2022, the FIRST Center was awarded an Innovative Public Health Curriculum "Honorable Mention" for the FIRE Fellowship from the Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health. This award was creation to showcase achievement and excellence in the realms of public health research, practice, and education. It highlights innovative public health curricula that emphasize a wide range of public health competencies, including collaborative public health practice, stakeholder engagement, and the application of public health and science-based principles.
This award speaks to the uniqueness of the Fellowship and to its inherent value in creating the next generation of fire service researchers. We are in the process of selecting the 8th class of FIRE Fellows, who will be working with us on the International Association of Fire Fighters workplace violence prevention curriculum for EMS responders as well as our recently-awarded FEMA AFG FP&S diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) grant with the International Association of Fire Chiefs and the National Fire Protection Agency's Metropolitan "Metro" Fire Chiefs Association.
We would like to hold up all FIRE Fellowship alumni to date, pictured below:
