Essential Unrestricted Support

Your unrestricted support of the Dornsife School of Public Health plays an essential role in enabling our researchers, educators, practice-leaders, students, and staff to improve the health of populations through science, practice, and partnerships.

Unrestricted gifts are automatically directed to the Dornsife Dean’s Initiative Fund, where your philanthropy empowers the Dean to make strategic investments that advance the Dornsife School’s mission to improve health in cities, eliminate health disparities, and promote health in all policies.

Whether helping to recruit a promising new faculty member, temporarily sustaining a bright student experiencing financial difficulties, or providing seed funding for faculty research that could lead to a multi-million dollar federal grant, these investments help steer the School in directions that advance its research, education, and service missions.

The Marla J. Gold Endowed Scholarship Fund

The Marla J. Gold Endowed Scholarship Fund was established to support outstanding applicants to the combined MD/MPH program.

The MD/MPH degree program is designed to prepare health-care leaders who can bridge the worlds of medicine and public health in ways that are critical not only to improving population health but also to improving clinical outcomes and the effectiveness of medical care.

Marla J. Gold, MD, served as Dean of the School of Public Health from 2002 to 2013. Under her leadership, the School grew markedly in enrollment, increased its degree offerings, greatly increased it research portfolio, earned its initial accreditation, and secured its first dedicated building. Dr. Gold retired in 2023 after serving as Drexel's senior vice provost for Community Health and Chief Wellness Officer.
