National Physician Assistant Week Service Learning
To celebrate National Physician Assistant Week (Oct 6 – 12, 2018), Drexel PA students conducted various service learning projects in the greater Philadelphia area.
Several students volunteered their time at the PHMC Care Clinic, a federally qualified health center where they conducted visual screenings, provided education about diabetes management and explained the physician assistant profession. Students from the PA Class of 2020 spent time at St. John’s Hospice. There they prepared casseroles for the residents of this local shelter for men that provides life-sustaining services with dignity, respect and compassion for this patient population. Finally, a cohort of students, also from the class of 2020, conducted blood pressure screenings at the Hub of Hope Clinic located in Suburban Station in Center City, Philadelphia. This clinic offers various services for Philadelphians who are in need of medical care, supportive housing and access to community resources.
