Action for Early Learning (AFEL)

The West Philadelphia Action for Early Learning Initiative (AFEL) is a collaboration of social service and education agencies with community stakeholders working to create an education support system for students and families in the West Philadelphia Promise Zone.

Promise Neighborhood

The West Philadelphia Promise Zone is roughly 2 square miles that is bounded by 48th street to the west, the Schuylkill River to the East, Girard Avenue to North and Sansom Street to the south. Drexel recently concluded a US Department of Education-funded Promise Neighborhood project to support new opportunities for children living or attending schools in the Promise Zone.
