Overview


The School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems is pleased to announce its 6th Annual Immune Modulation & Engineering Symposium (IMES). IMES 2024 features trailblazing research engineers and scientists working to advance the field of immune engineering from: Industry, Academia, Biomedical Engineering, and Basic and Translational Immunology

The speakers and attendees represent leaders in this field, with demonstrated expertise in collaborating across disciplines to generate innovative solutions to treat disease and injury by modulating the immune system.

Networking & Mentoring Session

A networking & mentoring session will be held during lunch on Wednesday, Nov. 13. It will foster interactions among trainees at different levels and senior & junior PIs as well as industrial leaders for career development. The session will be divided into roundtables with a mixture of mentees and mentors covering topics of high interest. Participants will be asked to indicate at registration whether they will participate in this session as a mentor or mentee, or whether they would prefer to opt out (space will be available for lunch outside of this session).

Topics for discussion include:

  • Applying for grants / fellowships
  • Applying for a PhD program
  • Finding a post-doctoral position
  • Post-doc to PI transition
  • Finding a job in industry
  • How to get where you want to go (career path and research focus)
  • Writing / submitting manuscripts
  • Networking in Immune Engineering
  • Other
