The Banu Onaral Research Symposium: Biomedical Innovations and Life Saving Solutions will take place Friday, January 30, 2026, from 8 am to 6 pm in the Drexel University Sky View Lounge, located on the 6th floor of MacAlister Hall at 3250 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA.
This inaugural event commemorates the first anniversary of Prof. Dr. Banu Onaral’s passing and celebrates her remarkable legacy as the founding leader of Drexel’s School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems, and as a pioneer in translational biomedical innovation, optical brain monitoring, and global innovation ecosystems.
- Sessions on neuroengineering and optical brain monitoring, human centered health innovations, and advanced therapeutics, genomics, cell and tissue engineering.
- Translational Biomedical Engineering session highlighting pathways from lab to clinic, in partnership with industry and clinical collaborators.
- Global Innovation Partnerships panel, featuring experiences from Turkey, Europe, Asia, and beyond.
- Lunch and poster session showcasing work from students and early career researchers.
- Banu Onaral Global Innovation Fellowship showcase, with short presentations from the inaugural fellows.
