Title:
The Future of Entrepreneurship

Speaker:
Rudy Karsan
Managing Partner
Karlani Capital
Philadelphia, PA

Details:
This talk will cover career lessons learned from experiences in entrepreneurship and tech investing and what the future may hold. What does the marketplace look like for the prospects of new companies? How should this affect your thinking about careers?

Biosketch:
Rudy Karsan is a technology entrepreneur and investor. Nothing excites him more than a great idea and a stellar team of executors who he can work with to help build a world-changing business. He was co-founder, chairman, and CEO of Kenexa, a global provider of business solutions for human resources. Kenexa went public in 2005 and was sold to IBM in 2012 for $1.3 billion.

A self-confessed geek, Rudy is a numbers guy at heart (Rudy was the youngest barred actuary in Canada); however, his true passion is working with people. He firmly believes that a lot of focus, a genuine desire to help others, and a little bit of luck is a winning recipe. That philosophy paved the way for Karlani Capital, an operating fund that aims to enable the growth and success of ideas that are original, interesting, and potentially useful to people. Rudy has been Karlani Capital's Managing Partner since 2014. He knows the highs and lows of success and failure (both of which he has had a lot of) and gets his energy from working with fellow risk-takers who appreciate the exhilarating journey of entrepreneurship.

Rudy hates small talk, loves reading, consumes a border-line unhealthy amount of Coca-Cola, and is proud to call his family his greatest achievement. He has been recognized multiple times for his entrepreneurial and humanitarian achievements and is the author of a New York Times bestselling book titled, "We: How to Increase Performance and Profits through Full Engagement." Rudy was also a featured TEDx speaker ("The Future of Work is Not Jobs") and sits on the boards of three HR-related tech start-ups.
