Our Collaborations in India

IIT Kanpur-Drexel International Collaborative Graduate Programs

Drexel University has International Collaborative Dual Doctoral Degree (PhD) Program, and Master of Science Programs with Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India, which is formerly known as IITK. During Master’s two-year program, the students will study the Drexel approved curriculum at IITK campus in Kanpur, India in the first year. In the second year, students land at Drexel University campus for the completion of remaining studies. The successful students would be awarded a Drexel MS degree in Biomedical Engineering or MS in Biomedical Science.

Similarly, for dual PhD (four years) Program, the students will complete required course work at host institute and continue doing research for two years, thereafter, will switch over to partnering institute to complete remaining research in next two years. The mentors and research projects, at both sides would be pre-identified and approved following respective university policies. The student’s requirement, and course credits at either institute would be transferrable, following respective institutional norms. Thus, the students would be getting the opportunities to work at two different universities, two mentors/co-mentors, and upon successful completion, will talk out with two PhD degrees in hand (BME / BMS of Drexel, and BioEngr / BioSci of IITK) (as applicable).

Dual Degree Programs:

SPPU - Drexel International Collaborative Graduate Programs

Drexel University has International Collaborative Master of Science Programs with Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU / PU), which was formerly known as University of Pune (India). During this two-year program, the students will study the Drexel approved curriculum at SPPU campus in Pune, India in the first year. In the second year, students land at Drexel University campus for the completion of remaining studies. The successful students would be awarded a Drexel MS degree in Biomedical Engineering or MS in Biomedical Science.

Dual Degree Programs:

  • Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering (MS in BME)
  • Master of Science in Biomedical Science (MS in BMS)

BVU -Drexel University International Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering

Drexel University has International Collaborative Master of Science Program with Bharati Vidyapeeth University (BVU) of Pune (India). During this two-year program, the students will study the Drexel approved curriculum at BVU campus in Pune, India in the first year. In the second year students land at Drexel University campus for the completion of remaining studies. The successful students would be awarded a Drexel MS degree in Biomedical Engineering.

Once admitted, students begin their studies at SSN and transfer 15 credits to Drexel University at the end of their first year. In their second year, students continue their studies in biomedical engineering at Drexel University. After taking 30 credits of classes, SSN and Drexel credits are combined to award the student an MS degree in Biomedical Engineering.

Drexel University – IITK Programs Inauguration

Drexel School of Biomedical Engineering, Science & Health Systems has taken another step forward in International Collaborative Graduate Programs in Biomedical Engineering (BME) and Biomedical Sciences (BMS). Drexel Biomed is partnering these programs with Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur (IITK), India. IITK is a public technical and research university of India, one of the first IITs, and declared to be an institute of national importance, and consistently among top 5 in nation. There are four graduate programs being partnered through collaboration. These are dual doctoral degree (DDD)/ PhD programs are in BME / BMS and would be partnered with their counterparts PhD program in bioengineering / bioscience. Follow DDD, the Master of Science (MS) programs in BME / BMS are in progression.

Drexel is launching such collaboration for the first time with Indian institute of eminence, which will subsequently open doors for other collaborations and joint research paradigms. While offering Drexel approved higher education, we are categorically looking to partner collaborative research, and develop a platform for bilateral entrepreneurship and technology transfers.
