Office of University Advising
The Office of University Advising leads university-wide academic advising initiatives that support student success and enhance the undergraduate academic experience. The office works in close partnership with academic advisors across Drexel’s colleges and schools to strengthen advising practices, improve coordination, and ensure students receive consistent, high-quality guidance throughout their academic journey.
Overview
The Office of University Advising advances a coordinated, institution-wide approach to academic advising. By working collaboratively with college-based advising teams, the office develops strategies, tools, and processes that support student progression, retention, and degree completion.
The office serves as a central resource and connector, facilitating communication between The Provost’s Office and advising units to support the effective implementation of new initiatives, policies, and systems.
What We Do
The Office of University Advising supports and collaborates with academic advisors across all colleges and schools. This partnership is central to our work and includes:
- Developing shared advising practices and frameworks
- Supporting advisor training and professional development
- Providing data and reporting to inform advising strategies
- Creating opportunities for cross-college collaboration and knowledge sharing
Through this work, the office helps ensure advising is consistent, student-centered, and aligned with institutional priorities.
The Office of University Advising leads efforts to strengthen and align advising practices across the institution. The Advising Hub houses resources and trainings for advising systems such as
Advisor Visit Tracking (AVT) and DegreeWorks, in addition to process guides, recorded webinars, and other tools used by advisors in their daily work. To secure access, please reach out to universityadvising@drexel.edu.
The office develops data-informed strategies that support student persistence, satisfaction, and degree completion. In collaboration with advising partners, this includes:
- Identifying trends in student progression and academic performance
- Supporting proactive outreach and intervention efforts
- Enhancing the overall student academic experience
- Promoting student engagement in the advising process
The office supports university-wide retention efforts, with a focus on undergraduate student persistence. In partnership with colleges and advising teams, this includes:
- Coordinating retention-focused initiatives
- Supporting targeted student outreach strategies
- Monitoring and analyzing retention outcomes
- Aligning efforts with institutional student success goals
The Office of University Advising works across academic and student support units to promote a coordinated student experience. Key collaborations include:
- Partnering with colleges and schools on shared advising and student success initiatives
- Supporting student case coordination across units
- Facilitating connections with academic support services, including the Center for Learning and Academic Success Services (CLASS), Learning Alliance partners, and the Academic Resource Center (ARC)
