Student Leadership Council on Climate and Sustainability Kicks Off, Hosted by The Environmental Collaboratory
In January, The Environmental Collaboratory officially launched the Student Leadership Council on Climate and Sustainability (SLCCS). The goal of this council is to elevate student voices and work collaboratively to address climate and sustainability issues on campus resulting in tangible changes to Drexel’s sustainability initiatives and practices.
The selected students represent their class’s opinions and are representative of various academic programs and disciplines. These students are exceptional leaders in their fields and have bold and innovative ideas for furthering climate and sustainability action on campus.
During the first meeting, students identified the goals, structure and focus areas for their work. Students hope to create actionable steps for Drexel to improve climate and sustainability on campus and in the surrounding communities by working through an interdisciplinary lens in focus areas such as:
- Academics & Research
- Career Development (Co-op and Experiential Learning)
- Student Life and Outreach
- Events and Programming
- Campus Footprint

The Environmental Collaboratory team looks forward to supporting the climate and sustainability leaders on the SLCCS in working on some of the most urgent and impactful issues on campus.
