How can the 100-year-old history of Drexel University’s seminal and innovative co-op program be represented visually?
Between Drexel University Archives and the Steinbright Career Development Center, there are lots and lots of photos related to the Drexel Co-op. Decades’ worth of photos, even.
These pictures, published below in not-exactly chronological order, offer a portal back in time to showcase what different generations of Drexel students were doing on co-op. What’s more, they showcase the professional options and opportunities that may or may not have been available to previous generations of Dragons.
The early photos were obtained through University Archives, and they were often arranged by a publicity office of Drexel and/or a co-op employer. The photos from the 21st century were submitted by students themselves through Steinbright’s co-op photo contest.
About the Drexel Co-op program: Nearly all eligible undergraduate students at Drexel University participate in the co-op program, balancing full-time classes and up to three different, six-month-long work experiences during their time at Drexel. Students can choose from hundreds of employers across the country and globally — plus endless possibilities through self-arranged opportunities.
