Yaba Blay, PhD, an assistant teaching professor in the College of Arts and Sciences and co-director of the Africana Studies program, was quoted in a Philadelphia Inquirer story on Oct. 9 about actress Raven Symone asking to be identified as “human” rather than “black” or “gay.”
