Gift of Time, Caring as Thanksgiving Break Starts Nov. 25
The following message from Drexel President John Fry about Thanksgiving break was sent to the Drexel community:
Thanksgiving this year will be unlike any we have experienced, with the necessary health and safety precautions limiting travel and our ability to gather with even our closest family and friends. It is more important than we ever that we give thanks for the many people who bless and enrich our lives, for our continued well-being, and for the extra time to care for ourselves and those around us.
I am pleased to announce that the University will be closed on Wednesday, November 25, giving us an early start on the Thanksgiving break. Please note that classes in the Kline School of Law will run as scheduled, as well as certain classes in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Professional Studies in the College of Medicine.
In order to care for our community and help others during the coronavirus pandemic, and in the wake of a divisive election season and the continuing struggle for racial justice, we must first help ourselves. Between now and the Thanksgiving break, as well as when we return, I encourage you to check the self-care and safety resources outlined in a recent University-wide message and communications that will follow regarding COVID-19 health measures. In addition, you can participate in the Drexel Human Resources Ten at 10 healthy activity programs or seek help through the Employee Assistance Program.
If you are a professional staff member who supports an area that requires you to work some time during this holiday period, please communicate with your supervisor as to how your time will be managed. This does not include colleges that have classes or clinical placements on November 25. Your flexibility is greatly appreciated.
At Drexel University, each of us contributes greatly to improving society by educating new generations of leaders, conducting research that positively impacts society, and engaging with communities throughout. I'm inspired by your hard work year in, and year out, but particularly now as we manage the unique challenges facing us today.
I wish you a relaxing, joyful and safe Thanksgiving holiday.
Sincerely,
John Fry
President
