Homecoming 2018: School Pride With Some Competition on the Side

Drexel Homecoming 2018

If you’ve been waiting for a chance to get involved on Drexel University’s campus and show some school spirit with your fellow Dragons, Homecoming 2018 is here for you.

Starting Monday, Jan. 22, with a bonfire kickoff, the University is putting on a full week of events designed to celebrate the traditions of the past and build new ones for the future, all in the spirit of uniting Dragons of all stripes. For the first time, this year’s Homecoming will have a competitive element, as teams of students from all across campus will be facing off in daily events to bring home a set of prizes that includes $1,500 in Dragon Dollars and $500 in credit to the Drexel bookstore. It’s all part of a new-look Homecoming celebration.

“Revamping Homecoming to focus on a spirit competition allows students across campus to get involved in a variety of ways — getting together to form a team, attending the pep rally bonfire or any of the other competition events as a spectator, or just going to the big games to cheer on our teams and see who won the spirit competition,” said Sarah Olsen, director of student involvement and leadership.

All the events throughout the week are open to students, staff, faculty and alumni, and all are encouraged to come out and show some pride in their University, all while emphasizing the One University mentality that bonds every Dragon in an effort to transform Drexel’s campuses, neighborhood and the world, Olsen said.

So what can you expect from Homecoming 2018, whether you’re part of the competition or just want to step away from studying or work and get in the mix?
