Good news for faculty members with plans to increase or create research efforts: Drexel’s Office of Research and Office of Faculty Affairs recently announced $1.2 million in funding for the first-ever Drexel research, scholarship and creativity awards. The funding can supplement or establish research opportunities for faculty members as a way of improving the University’s quality and quantity of research efforts.

Six different awards will be given to support scholarly and creative research, gap funding for research projects, the acquisition of non-personnel items to conduct research and the promotion of interdisciplinary research initiatives, among other incentives. Deadlines for the awards range from mid-February to mid-April.

“Creation of new knowledge is a central tenant of our mission,” said Senior Vice Provost for Research Aleister Saunders, PhD, who is also a professor in the College of Arts and Sciences. As such, we need to celebrate our faculty whose achievement is extraordinary, as well as facilitate new and existing research projects. With the inception of these annual awards, we are celebrating achievements to date as well as facilitating creativity and discovery in all disciplines.
