Drexel President John Fry Welcomes WorkReady Philadelphia Summer Interns to Campus
Drexel President John A. Fry will host a breakfast event to welcome more than 60 WorkReady Philadelphia summer interns to the University’s campus. The high school interns will be working in a variety of academic and administrative units across the University.
The event will be held on Tuesday, July 16 from 9:15-10:30 a.m. in the Great Court of Drexel’s Main Building (32nd and Chestnut Streets).
Students will work 20 hours a week in paid internships that run through August 9. Drexel has been a WorkReady supporter since 2005. The University hired 44 more interns this year directly responding to Mayor Michael Nutter’s “10,000 Summer Jobs Challenge” for 2013 in which he charged the City of Philadelphia to unite and create 10,000 WorkReady summer job opportunities for youth.
Fry will be joined by Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell; Deborah Glenn, vice president of Human Resources at Drexel; and Tim Devine who manages a student in the WorkReady program at the University.
