Celebrate Juneteenth

Posted on June 16, 2022

Each year, Juneteenth commemorates the effective end of slavery in the United States. Although President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863, it wasn't until June 19, 1865 that those enslaved were truly freed by executive decree. Join us in celebrating this historic milestone for Black history on June 22 at the Juneteenth Block Party, hosted in collaboration with various offices across campus, and check out the Philadelphia Juneteenth Parade and Festival, the largest annual celebration of Juneteenth in the nation!
