Bio

Kathryn A. Dettmer, MA, MEd, has served as an adjunct ESL instructor at Drexel University since 2023 and an adjunct instructor of French in the College of Arts and Sciences' Department of Global Studies and Modern Languages since 2002. Kathryn has also taught Czech language and culture at Drexel. As a Peace Corps Volunteer, she taught English in an academic high school, for an environmental NGO and in a small town in the Czech Republic. Her research centers on making the language classroom more accessible to students, using universal design principles and pop music.

At the English Language Center, Kathryn is the Assistant Director of Administration; in addition, she teaches Reading and Vocabulary. She is developing a teaching manual with an NGO in the Union of the Comoros to train English teachers through a Virtual Volunteer Pilot Program. This project is sponsored by the United States Peace Corps.
