The Urgency of Poetry: A Conversation
Thursday, November 21, 2024
5:30 PM-7:00 PM
Guest lecturers Dr. Tania Favela and Dr. Luis M. Verdejo
will explore the critical role poetry plays in contemporary society through
dialogue where the poets discuss how poetry addresses pressing issues of today,
such as social justice, identity, environmental crises, and cultural heritage.
They will reflect on how poetry offers unique ways to process and respond to
the complexities of modern life, fostering connection and insight in a critical
era. Audience members will gain insights into how poets craft their works to
capture the urgency of current times and the ways in which poetry can serve as
a tool for reflection and transformation.
