In this workshop, Drexel Writing Center Peer Readers will help students learn how Chat GPT and other AI platforms can be used ethically as a tool for writing and how to recognize inappropriate usage of AI in writing.

Join us for this presentation by Eli Goldblatt, Professor Emeritus of Temple University on “Teaching Hope: Literature and Literacy Practices Intertwined.”  Dr. Goldblatt is the former director of New City Writing, an institute focused on community-related literacy projects in North Philadelphia. The author of a number of books, his newest release, Alone with Each Other: Literacy and Literature Intertwined, has been published by Peter Lang in 2024.

Guest lecturers Dr. Tania Favela and Dr. Luis M. Verdejo will explore the critical role poetry plays in contemporary society through dialogue where the poets discuss how poetry addresses pressing issues of today, such as social justice, identity, environmental crises, and cultural heritage. They will reflect on how poetry offers unique ways to process and respond to the complexities of modern life, fostering connection and insight in a critical era. Audience members will gain insights into how poets craft their works to capture the urgency of current times and the ways in which poetry can serve as a tool for reflection and transformation.
