  • Garden Workshop: Flowerpot Painting on Thursday, August 1, from 2 to 4 p.m.
Come get crafty and transform plain terra cotta pots into works of art. Lots of design ideas will be offered. All materials will be provided while supplies last.
  • Meet the Brewers: Summery Ciders with Dressler Estate on Wednesday, August 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. Brian and Olga Dressler, the husband-and-wife brains and cider makers behind Dressler Estate, are Drexel alumni who decided to come back to their roots to share their summer-focused, refreshing ciders with the community in this week’s Meet the Brewers event.
  • Garden Workshop: Teacup Gardens on Thursday, August 15, from 2 to 4 p.m.
In this class, you’ll learn how to create a whimsical miniature succulent garden planted in a vintage teacup . It’s the perfect accent to place in your window or any other brightly lit area. All materials will be provided while supplies last.
  • Meet the Brewers: Runaway to the Circus with Fat Lady Brewing on Wednesday, August 21, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Fat Lady Brewing is located on Main Street in Manayunk and is built around some amazing principles: empathy, acceptance, collaboration, and kindness, to list a few. Inspired by early 20th-century circuses that were an escape from everyday life for society, families, and society’s outcasts, the brewery aims to be a place where you’re welcome to come as you already are or as you wish to be - so long as you come with kindness and an open mind. Join the brewers in the garden, learn more about their mission, and enjoy some delicious beer!
  • Garden Workshop: Botanical Tonics and Refreshers on Thursday, August 29, from 2 to 4 p.m.
Learn how the plants growing in your garden (or purchased from a local farmer’s market) can be used to create delicious summer refreshments! A variety of garden beverages will be available to sample, along with recipes to recreate them at home.

More about The Gateway Garden at Drexel University brought to life by PHS

The Gateway Garden at Drexel University, brought to life by PHS, is a beautiful oasis in the bustling center of Philadelphia – a gateway to University City, located at 32nd and Market Streets, which was once a broad expanse of highway and sideways. Built on the former site of a Firestone automotive repair site, the Garden is a multi-use, serene outdoor gathering spot blooming year-round with various plants, trees, and other horticultural delights. It’s the perfect spot for Drexel students, faculty, administration, alums, and other visitors – whether to meet for lunch, dinner, study groups, performances, a seasonal market, or anytime.

Drexel community members are invited to join the Gateway Garden Community Group on Microsoft Teams to stay updated on changes and additions to the Gateway Garden and upcoming programs.
