Dr. Esra Dundar Aravacik Joins Drexel University as a Visiting Scholar from Turkey’s Izmir Katip Çelebi University January 3, 2024 Dr. Esra Dundar Aravacik is an Assistant Professor at Turkey’s Izmir Katip Çelebi University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Health Management, Health and Medical Law. She is also an active member of Drexel’s Global Innovation Partnership (GIP) community and has served as a remote instructor in GIP Medical Technology Innovation courses to address intellectual property topics. She joined the School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems as a visiting scholar to conduct research on "A Proposed Model for Intellectual Property Rights Management with a Holistic Approach: The Case of Biomedical Technology," sponsored by TÜBİTAK (Turkish equivalent of the NSF). This proposed model will cover the process of intellectual property rights management (IPRM) in the field of biomedical technology, which stands out among innovative technologies, from R&D laboratories to product transformation and commercialization. The model is intended to be applicable in an interdisciplinary manner with engineers, managers, and legal experts, with a holistic and integrated approach. Dr. Banu Onaral, H. H. Sun Professor in the School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems is her advisor on this project.
