This practicum allows students to work on behalf of incarcerated individuals who are nearing the end of their sentence and are preparing to reenter society. The practicum provides numerous opportunities for direct advocacy and in-court experience.
Other benefits of the practicum include:
- Flexibility for students to take 1–3 credits per semester
- Opportunity for in-court experience and direct client advocacy
- Ability to satisfy the school's pro bono requirement (depending on credit choices)
- Networking opportunity for anyone interested in criminal law to work alongside federal judges, defenders, AUSAs, and probation officers
