  • Baker Donelson Diversity Scholarship

    The Baker Donelson Diversity Scholarship will award three scholarships to three diverse rising 2L law students who will complete their first year of law school by June 2022. Recipients will be awarded a six-week, salaried 2L Summer Associate position for the summer of 2023 in one of our Firm's offices. Additionally, each recipient will be awarded $10,000, which will be paid prior to the student's third year of law school, to help defray the cost of law school tuition and related expenses.

    Baker Donelson is committed to fostering an inclusive environment where the individual differences among us are understood, respected and appreciated, recognized as sources of strength of the Firm, and valued as qualities that enrich the environment in which we work.

    With this in mind, we are delighted to announce that the 2023 Baker Donelson Diversity Scholarship application is now available! We will award three scholarships to three diverse rising 2L law students who will complete their first year of law school by June 2022. Recipients will be awarded a six-week, salaried 2L Summer Associate position for the summer of 2023 in one of our Firm's offices. Additionally, each recipient will be awarded $10,000, which will be paid prior to the student's third year of law school, to help defray the cost of law school tuition and related expenses. The recipients' office preferences will be taken into consideration, but final assignment will depend on the Firm's hiring needs. The recipients may split their summers with other law firms; however, they are required to work during the period that the other Summer Associates in that Baker Donelson office are working.

    This year's graduating class of law students faced unprecedented challenges as they attended law school during a global pandemic. Inspired by their accomplishments, the ABA has organized a first-ever ABA 3L Week: a week dedicated to celebrating the successes of the graduating law class of 2022.

  • Tuition and Financial Aid Information for Summer 2022

    Please review this important tuition and financial aid information for Summer 2022.

    • Students in the Accelerated JD program will have their Law Merit Scholarships applied for summer, regardless of the number of credits taken in the summer. We have packaged summer Financial Aid for AJDs, and they do not need to take any additional steps.
    • Students in the 3-year JD program cannot use their Law Merit Scholarships in the summer.
    • Students in dual degree programs or international programs should speak with their advisors about the applicability of their scholarships in the summer.
    • For students in programs not requiring them to take credits this summer, the law school is discounting tuition 33%. The discount does not apply to students whose plan of study requires them to take credits in the summer, including AJDs and dual degree students. For students taking fewer than 9 credits this summer, and entitled to the discount, the per credit tuition Is $1,092, after the 33% discount. For students enrolled full-time (defined as taking 9 or more credits), and entitled to the discount, the discounted summer tuition is $16,382, after the 33% discount. The General Fee for all summer students is $420.
    • Students taking at least 4.5 credits (half time enrollment) can secure Federal Graduate Plus Loans to cover their expenses. Students can apply now for summer loans now at www.studentaid.gov. The loan is for 2021-22 (not 2022-23). The loan term is 05/23/2022 - 08/07/2022.
    • If students take out Federal Graduate Plus Loans to cover their expenses in the summer, an allocation for the costs of living expenses for 3 months, as well as tuition and fees, are added to a summer student’s 2021-22 budget. Funds are scheduled to disburse around May 16, 2022, with refunds issued by the Bursar’s Office over the next two-three days.
    • There are no additional financial aid applications necessary if your FAFSA for 2021-22 is on file with the school.
