Reed Smith's Trial Training Program will take place in the Philadelphia office (Suite 3100, Three Logan Square, 1717 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103) from Monday, Sept. 8 through Friday, Sept. 12. That Friday morning, Reed Smith litigation associates from around the US will test their trial practice skills in half-day mock trials staged in conference rooms throughout the office, where Reed Smith litigation partners will serve as judges. Volunteer witnesses play a crucial role in making these mock trials lifelike, and that's where you come in.
Please volunteer to serve as a witness for a mock trial! These trials are serious business to our participants, but they’re also a lot of fun and will give you a chance to see behind the scenes of a global law firm while meeting and working with some of Reed Smith’s best litigators. If that career path interests you, you’ll also get a preview of what might be on the horizon in your professional future.
What time commitments are involved?
- Witnesses should plan to spend 30-45 minutes testifying at the mock trial Friday morning, Sept. 12 (specific time to be discussed with your trial team).
- If you have time, you are welcome (and encouraged!) to stay for other parts of the trial, and to participate in the post-trial feedback lunch with the litigants and judge.
- In addition, witnesses will meet with their trial team in advance (most likely Wednesday or Thursday afternoon) to review case file materials and plan their testimony.
- Witnesses are welcome to join us for Friday's pre-trial breakfast (starting at 7:30 a.m.) and for the post-trial de-briefing, which will end by 2 p.m.
Please note that we will need 25-30 volunteer witnesses to fill all roles, so we need your help. Please contact Ken Moir (kmoir@reedsmith.com) to indicate your interest and availability to role-play one of the mock witnesses. We’ll contact you with further details the week of August 25.
