The Philly Chef Conference is an annual conference that connects our students to the industry and features panels, lectures and demonstrations from leading food and hospitality professionals.
We are pleased to announce the launch of the new Center for Food & Hospitality Management. An enhanced affiliation with the Nutrition Sciences department, in the College of Nursing and Health Professions, will provide additional opportunities for collaboration and research and greatly benefit our current and future students.
Grace Hoffman BS hospitality management ’18 sends a picture ‘home’ from Scotland where she studied abroad to gain a global perspective on hospitality. Our students can explore the world with opportunities to study abroad in over 80 countries and through shorter hospitality project-based learning excursions.
Students outside of the home-building for the department of hospitality management enjoy the gorgeous urban greenery. Studying at Drexel provides access to all the benefits of a major city but with a supportive college atmosphere. Drexel students can take advantage of over 400 clubs and organizations on campus by day and walk downtown for dinner or a museum by night.

Students Kayla Gore, BS hospitality management ’17, and Alyssa Torres, BS hospitality management ’20, are members of the Drexel’s National Society of Minorities in Hospitality. Affiliation with this national society allows students to build networks throughout the country and to establish important industry connections.
Our unique dining room, the Academic Bistro, is open to the public and serves as a classroom for our students. A three-course lunch, prepared with sustainable products and innovative technique, is served on Thursdays and Fridays.
Some of the city's best mixologists, and wine and beer professionals teach in the program. Students from throughout the university can take courses in the fundamentals of beer, beverage management, wine and spirits and more. Explore some of our beverage classes.
Renowned food writer and restaurant critic Craig LaBan has made a name for himself with nearly 20 years writing for the Philadelphia Inquirer. He has won awards from the James Beard Foundation and Association of Food Journalists and regularly teaches HRM 305 Food Blogging.
