Drexel University recently launched the Center for Hospitality and Sport Management, reporting directly to the provost. The freestanding center includes programs in hospitality management, culinary arts, food science and sport management.
Taken together, the facets of the tourism industry that we support - travel, lodging, restaurants, food, gaming, sports, entertainment, and meetings - represent the largest industry in the Philadelphia region and our leading economic driver.
Through a focus on experiential learning and co-op opportunities, the center is positioned to fulfill distinct market needs. It provides experiences in sport ticketing, restaurant management, arena management, food product development, recipe development, coaching, commercial kitchen design and layout, kitchen gardening and hotel front desk operations.
Philadelphia ranks as one of the best cities in the world to learn about the hospitality and sport industries. Our center has relationships with every professional sports team in the city, the finest restaurants and hotels, and the food companies that feed the nation.
The Drexel Difference is exemplified in our center through hands-on experiential learning, meaningful six-month cooperative education experience, unparalleled advising, and a small family atmosphere within a comprehensive research university and a vibrant city. Our students build lifelong relationships with our faculty and staff, all of whom come to us with industry experience and a vast professional network.
