Seasonal Preventative Vaccine Reminders

Now that fall is upon us, we want to remind you to stay up to date on your seasonal vaccines, including Flu, High Dose Flu*, COVID, Shingles, Pneumonia and the new RSV* vaccine. Enrolled members in all the Drexel medical plans have access to these preventative vaccines – and they are covered at 100 percent when billed through your medical and/or pharmacy benefits with a $0 copay.

In addition to the vaccines being covered, the administration costs associated with the vaccine are also covered at no cost to Drexel members.

Reminder: When getting your vaccine(s), you must present your Drexel/IBX Medical ID card to the pharmacy or providers office in order for the plan to pay as intended.

*There are Center for Disease Control (CDC) eligibility restrictions on the High Dose Flu and RSV vaccine. Please check with your pharmacy or provider to confirm if you or your family member are eligible.

Reminder about access to COVID Tests

As announced at the end of September by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), beginning September 25, every U.S. household can again place an order to receive four more free COVID-19 rapid tests delivered directly to their home. For more information on this and how to check to see if your COVID-19 tests’ expiration dates have been extended, please visit their website for up-to-date information.

Drexel will continue to offer coverage for At-Home COVID tests along with COVID vaccinations with no-cost sharing for members enrolled in a Drexel medical plan, even though the government no longer requires employers to do so.

Please see below for clarity on what is covered under the Drexel Medical Plans:

Over-the-Counter (OTC) At-Home COVID Tests: This is a reminder that although employer plans were no longer required to pay for at-home tests, a decision was made that the Drexel plans will continue to pay for them until further notice. Below are the ways employees who are enrolled in the Drexel Medical Plans can obtain them at no cost:

  • Pharmacy: When purchasing at-home tests at your in-network pharmacy, make sure you take your Drexel member ID card to the pharmacy counter and request the OTC test be submitted to your insurance plan for coverage. There will be a $0 copay for up to eight tests per month per covered member at an in-network pharmacy. However, supplies and availability for pharmacies to process as noted above may vary.
  • Reimbursement: Employees who pay out-of-pocket for FDA-authorized COVID-19 tests purchased at a retail store or online retailer can be reimbursed for up to 8 tests per covered member per month. You will need copies of your purchase receipt(s). Complete one form per covered family member. To receive the quickest possible reimbursement of up to $12 per test, submit an electronic claim form.

PCR Tests: PCR testing is now considered as diagnostic testing and may require out of pocket expense depending on which Drexel medical plan you have.
