Welcome to the Department of Health Sciences, where our mission is to advance human health through comprehensive education, innovative research and community engagement. Our diverse programs are designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to innovatively promote wellness, prevent disease and improve quality of life.

Programs Offered

UNDERGRADUATE

Health Sciences
Health Sciences prepares students for a variety of health professions with flexible programming that develops students’ understanding of human health. Courses in health and clinical sciences, research methods, statistics and healthcare ethics are combined with a core curriculum of mathematics, humanities and social sciences to provide a fully integrated and comprehensive curriculum. Our multidisciplinary approach enables students to develop clinical, research and interpersonal skills that provide a highly competitive edge in the career marketplace and admission to post-graduate studies. In addition to our stand-alone BS in Health Sciences, accelerated (3+) programs combined with Drexel’s highly ranked Physician Assistant and Physical Therapy programs offer a path for students to shorten their academic journeys into these professions.

Exercise Science
Our exercise science program emphasizes the importance of physical activity in maintaining health and preventing chronic diseases. Students study the physiological, biomechanical and psychological effects of exercise, preparing them for careers in fitness, rehabilitation and sports performance.

Culinary Arts
The culinary program combines the art of cooking with the science of nutrition. Students gain hands-on experience in food preparation, culinary techniques, cultural and social aspects of food and menu planning, with a focus on healthy, delicious meals that support overall well-being.

Culinary and Food Science
This program explores the science behind food production, safety and innovation. Students learn about food chemistry, microbiology, entrepreneurship and technology, preparing them to ensure the quality and safety of food products and to develop new food solutions that enhance health and sustainability.

Master of Science in Culinary and Food Science

Nutrition
Our nutrition programs delve into the role of diet in health and disease prevention. Students study the principles of nutrition, dietary assessment and counseling, equipping them to help individuals make informed dietary choices and promote optimal health.
