The Vidas Athletic Complex is the home of outdoor varsity athletics and University Recreation at Drexel University. The complex features nine regulation Tennis Courts, a Softball Field and three fields - Maguire Field, a Sprinturf synthetic grass field; Vidas Field, a Shaw synthetic grass field with lights and seating for full-size soccer and lacrosse events; and Buckley Field, an Astroturf field with lights and seating for field hockey. Both lighted fields support night sporting events at the complex.

- Lancaster Walk: Located on Campus between 33rd and 34th and Market St.
- Myers Hall: Located on Campus at 33rd and Race St.
- Filbert Street Park: Located on campus at 36th and Filbert St.
- Cira Green: Located off campus at 30th & Chestnut. This is a rooftop park accessible via an elevator.
- Schuylkill River Trail: located off campus along the east side of the Schuylkill River running from the Art Museum to Bartram’s Garden.
Frequently Asked Questions
Vidas Athletic Complex, located at 4215 Powelton Avenue. You can utilize the Powelton/Spring Garden Dragon Shuttle to get to and from the Vidas Athletic Complex. Please check here for the shuttle schedule. You can also park at the facility utilizing the parking lot just inside the entrance off Powelton Avenue. Lastly, you can walk to the facility by traveling along Lancaster Ave., then Powelton Ave. Bike rentals are available for use located off of 33rd and Market St. and outside of the entrance of the Vidas Athletic Complex. The Dragon Trail is available for those who prefer to walk to the facility by traveling along Lancaster Avenue then making a left onto Powelton Avenue until you reach the complex.
There are always Drexel University Public Safety Officers located at the facility. Drexel University Police and Philadelphia Police make regular and routine visits to the facility. Vidas Athletic Complex is well lit and is surveilled via CCTV cameras 24-7.
Pick-up games can be played during all Open Rec hours on Maguire field and Vidas Field. Please be sure to check space availability and the schedule of events prior to making your way to the facility.
Restrooms are located on the East Side of the Field house on the N 42nd Street facing side of the building.
Water fountains are located at the Vidas Field house and between Maguire and the Buckley Field Hockey Field.
All users of the Vidas Athletic Complex must be Drexel University ID holders unless attending a ticketed athletic or university event.
Equipment such as Soccer Balls, Footballs, Volleyballs, Spike-Ball, Frisbees, and Baggo sets are available for rental at the URec. Please be sure to stop by to rent equipment prior to heading out to Vidas as no rental equipment is available at the Fieldhouse.

Vincent Vidas
BS, Electrical Engineering, 1959; MS, Electrical Engineering, 1964
Mr. Vidas co-founded and led SEMCOR, Inc., a high-tech consulting firm specializing in integrated information systems solutions, for over thirty years. Mr. Vidas is a member of the Drexel 100, the College of Engineering Alumni Circle of Distinction, Athletic Hall of Fame, and the national “Co-op Hall of Fame.” In 2009 he received the Golden Dragon Society Award. As a student athlete, Mr. Vidas was best-known as a football player who was named to two All-American teams. Vidas Field at the Drexel Athletic Complex is named for Mr. Vidas and his wife Judy ’56, and they are also major contributors to the Crew program.
