The Climate & Sustainability team coordinates a set of exciting programs that animate the core of Drexel’s sustainability strategy.
The Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS)
We participate in the STARS institutional sustainability metrics and ratings program to measure how we are doing.
Climate Action Plan
We launched Drexel’s first climate action plan process in fall 2022, a broadly participatory process that will create Drexel’s implementation plan for a more sustainable institution.
Drexel Buy Nothing Depot
We operate the Drexel Buy Nothing Depot, a free supply exchange program for the Drexel community aimed to both divert still-useful office products from landfill and help reduce University spending on office and school supplies.
Civic x EarthFest
We collaborate with Student Life to present Drexel’s annual Civic x EarthFest, our Earth Day celebration.
Campus Race to Zero Waste
We coordinate Drexel’s participation in the Campus Race to Zero Waste, which we pursue as an electronics recycling initiative. Drexel holds collection events for computers and related peripherals at each of its campuses. Drexel collected 10.5 tons of e-waste in 2025 and 14.77 tons in 2024.
Tree of the Year
We host the Tree of the Year program, which annually crowns a favorite campus tree while reinforcing Drexel's commitment to a healthy native urban forest.
