Provost Award for Undergraduate Teaching Impact
This award recognizes full-time faculty at Drexel who have made a distinctive impact through excellence in teaching primarily at the first- or second-year undergraduate level.
Criteria
The Provost Award for Undergraduate Teaching Impact is presented to a full-time faculty member at Drexel University who has completed a minimum of three years of full-time teaching at Drexel University. At least 75% of the candidate's teaching should beat the first- or second-year undergraduate level.
Nomination Package
- A copy of the candidate's curriculum vitae
- Enrollment data and teaching evaluations (numerical only) for all first- and second-year courses that the candidate taught for the past three years.
- Short “testimonials” from up to three former students of the nominee who took a class from them while they were in their first or second year.
- Statement written by the candidate (2-5 pages) providing a description of positive impact (i.e., clearly assessed by evidence) on student learning and/or engagement including (where appropriate) reference to scholarship on effective and inclusive teaching or research-based methods shown to improve student learning or engagement
- Letters of support — one from a colleague, department head, or dean and one from a student
- Additional items to be submitted in appendices may include syllabi, specialized teaching materials, documentation from faculty peer evaluations/classroom observation and other letters/statements of support, including from students.
Submission
Faculty members who are interested in submitting a proposal should prepare their application in accordance with the guidelines set forth in the Drexel University Funding Portal, for each competition respectively.
