Invitation to Mentor a Liberty Scholar

Dear Colleagues,

The Drexel Liberty Scholars program helps fulfill A.J. Drexel’s vision by breaking down financial barriers to higher education for talented and deserving undergraduate students. In celebration of the program’s 16th year, we invite you to complete the Liberty Scholars Mentor Interest Form and join Drexel's team of mentors for the 2026–2027 incoming class of Liberty Scholars.

Mentors are experienced people who provide consistent guidance and support to someone newer in an organization. As part of this cohort program, each first-year Liberty Scholar is paired with a faculty or professional staff member who serves as a mentor to that student throughout their time at Drexel. We attempt to match Liberty Scholars with mentors based on academic or other shared interests or commonalities, but our primary aim is to connect scholars with faculty and staff who care deeply about student success.

As a Liberty Scholar mentor, you are minimally obligated to meet with your mentee quarterly. But we suspect you will gain as much from your mentee as they gain from you and that you may want to meet even more often. Indeed, research shows that mentorship is associated with increased job satisfaction and career success among mentors.

If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please complete the Liberty Scholars Mentor Interest Form by Friday, September 18, 2026.

Mentors for the incoming class will be notified and invited to attend a virtual training session, where you will receive information on the student that has been assigned to you. You will be introduced to your mentee at a special event held during Week 4 of the fall quarter.
