Curricular Redesign Updates for Fall 2026 Quarter

This message was shared with faculty and professional staff members on October 29, 2026.

Dear Colleagues,

This fall marks the final stretch of the formal curricular redesign work at the center of Academic Transformation. As faculty have been working hard to redesign their courses, the three integrated curricular councils have made significant headway in finalizing guidance around core competencies (CC), experiential learning opportunities (ELOs) and EXP 1001. We are pleased to share the following updates on progress made and the road ahead.

Curricular Councils

Highlights so far:

  • Council on EXP 1001: Established the course framework and started drafting sample lesson plans; connecting with UNIV 101, CIVC 101 and COOP 101 instructors to support piloting course content.
  • Council on Core Competencies: Established priorities for assessment, developed the CC course proposal process along with supporting documentation, started analyzing course demand and shared initial findings with Dean’s Council (ongoing).
  • Council on ELOs: Developed the Course+ proposal process and clarified how ELO completion will be documented and tracked for graduation clearance.

What’s Next:

  • Follow the councils’ progress with upcoming milestones on the SharePoint pages linked above.
  • Submit a Proposal: Faculty who are interested in submitting a proposal for a CC or ELO Course+ should connect with both their academic unit lead(s) from the associated curricular council and curricular lead(s) to ensure they follow the outlined processes and timeline for submission. Beyond the timeline for inclusion in the 2027-2028 Semester Catalog, there will be additional opportunities to submit proposals for Course+ and CC courses.

Course and Program CourseLeaf Submissions

The following chart describes the review process leading up to the official publication of the 2027-2028 Semester Catalog. Completing CourseLeaf submissions by the tranche deadlines selected by each unit is critical. Curricular leads remain the primary point of contact for questions, or the Academic Catalog team for support related to CourseLeaf submissions.
