Student Access to ChatGPT Edu and Faculty Resources

Dear Colleagues,

Students have received information from Drexel Information Technology regarding the availability of ChatGPT Edu, the University's licensed generative AI platform. The message provides instructions for students who wish to activate a ChatGPT Edu account and access the service.

While students have long had access to a variety of AI tools, ChatGPT Edu offers a University-supported environment in which conversations and data are not used to train OpenAI models. Students may choose whether to activate and use the platform.

As a reminder, faculty retain full discretion over whether and how AI tools may be used in their courses. Drexel's guidance continues to emphasize thoughtful and ethical use of AI in ways that support learning while upholding academic integrity.

To support your instructional decisions, the following resources are available:

Academic Guidance

• The Academic Integrity Policy Pertaining to Artificial Intelligence (PO-103) provides guidance regarding instructor discretion, syllabus statements, and expectations for AI use.
• The AI at Drexel website offers guidance on responsible AI use and links to relevant University policies.

Teaching Support

• The Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) provides resources on generative AI and teaching, consultations on assignment design and course policies, and workshops throughout the academic year.

• For questions related to academic policy or instructional use of AI, contact the Standing Committee on Artificial Intelligence at SCAI@drexel.edu.
• For technical access or support questions related to ChatGPT Edu, visit the ChatGPT Edu Service Page.

As generative AI continues to evolve, Drexel remains committed to providing resources and support that help faculty make informed decisions about its role in teaching and learning.
