This message was sent to faculty and staff by the President and Provost on December 21, 2022.
Dear colleagues,
Following the recent announcement of Lucy Kerman’s retirement at the end of the month as Senior Vice Provost for University and Community Partnerships, we are pleased to share that the Provost’s Office is now accepting applications for her successor. This position will be responsible for advancing Drexel’s anchor mission as a civic University by overseeing a large portfolio of successful programs, including two centers and grant-funded initiatives in preK-12 public education, that promote community-based scholarship, neighborhood partnerships, economic inclusion, and access to educational and career opportunities. Reporting to both of us, the Vice Provost for University and Community Partnerships will be a member of the Provost’s Executive Staff and the President’s Executive Council and Cabinet.
A search committee for the Vice Provost for University and Community Partnerships has been formed, with Rosalind Remer, Senior Vice Provost of University Collections and Exhibitions and Executive Director of the Lenfest Center for Cultural Partnerships, and Jason Schupbach, Dean of the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design, serving as co-chairs.
Search committee members include:
- Ayana Allen-Handy
- Ingrid Broadnax
- Susan Brooks
- Amy Carroll-Scott
- Brian Ellis
- Joanne Ferroni
- Michael Greenle
- Karen Lewis
- Rosalind Remer (co-chair)
- Allen Riddick
- Jason Schupbach (co-chair)
- Rachel Wenrick
This role, which is crucial to advancing Drexel’s civic mission and implementing the University’s core imperatives under our Strategic Plan, calls for an innovative and collaborative leader with extensive experience in higher education, a deep commitment to and experience with community partnerships, a track record in successful executive management, and a sophisticated understanding of both academic and administrative operations.
We hope to generate a pool of strong internal candidates for this position. We will be moving forward with this search process expeditiously and ask to have expressions of interest submitted to us by January 13, 2023. Qualified colleagues who fully embrace Drexel’s civic mission are encouraged to apply. View the job description here.
Until a new Vice Provost for University and Community Partnerships is appointed, the Office will be led by its current director, Joanne Ferroni.
Sincerely,
