Equipment Surplus and Recycling
The following University-run services — Equipment Surplus and Facilities — can help departments find new homes for equipment that they no longer need. This includes computers and related equipment, office supplies, furniture and lab equipment. These services contribute to sustainability efforts by reducing waste, saving resources, and helping others. The University also saves money by avoiding disposal costs and the unnecessary purchase of new items. Please refer to the chart below to determine the best solution for your department.

* The only way to ensure data stored on a hard drive is properly deleted is to overwrite it with pseudorandom numbers using a program called DBAN (see Drexel IT DBAN FAQ for more information, and contact security@drexel.edu if you need assistance). Drexel will be accepting old computers and other electronic devices for recycling at its three yearly Campus Race to Zero Waste collection events, but it is the department's responsibility to ensure the hard drive is properly deleted. Drexel will not accept any devices for recycling that have not been properly and securely wiped.
