FSIS recognizes members as true experts in the field of surgical infection.

On May 14, 2025, at Philadelphia 44th Annual Meeting, Dr. Suresh G Joshi, is nominated and confirmed as Fellow of Surgical Infection Society (formerly, the Surgical Infection Society of North America), FSIS. The FSIS designation is awarded to members who have demonstrated both a high level of knowledge and expertise in surgical infections, and a consistent commitment to advancing the field through their contributions to the Surgical Infection Society.

The Surgical Infection Society (SIS) is a professional body dedicated to the understanding, prevention, and management of surgical infections. SIS has a global presence with representation on four continents, and members’ participation globally.

Dr. Joshi is having a background, expertise and commitment for medical research and mentoring in Infectious diseases, infection control and prevention, and novel antimicrobial strategies. Dr. Joshi is a founding director of the Center for Surgical Infection at the Department of Surgery of Drexel University and established a platform in 2008 for interdisciplinary research in this field, integrating research experts from the Drexel College of Medicine, Drexel School of Biomedical Engineering, and Drexel University’s Nyheim Plasma Institute.
