Ever wonder what kind of music Drexel deans like to listen to? Now’s your chance to find out.
This Thursday, Allen Sabinson, dean of the Antoniette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design, and Frank Linnehan, PhD, dean of the LeBow College of Business, will play a two-hour-long DJ set on WKDU 91.7 FM, Drexel's free-format, student-run radio station. It’s a “Battle of the Deans” — and Westphal vs. LeBow — held only on the airwaves on June 8 from 10 a.m to 12 p.m.
Because WKDU has made a name for itself by playing music that can't be heard anywhere else on the dial, the deans have had to find deep cuts and obscure tracks to share with the Drexel community and beyond — no “hits” allowed. They’ll take turns playing songs while hosting the segment, taking the time to share personal anecdotes and opinions about the songs they’re playing and then some.
The deans will also read a public service announcement, as all WKDU DJs do, for a local nonprofit organization and promote one local event, each of their own choosing.
You can find out what the deans will play on air — to fulfill your curiosity or perhaps gain fodder to (gently) tease them about their taste in music— by tuning in to 91.7 FM or streaming the show online at wkdu.org.
