Burberry CEO Angela Ahrendts is the recipient of the inaugural Westphal Award, one of Drexel University’s highest honors.
Drexel University has named Angela Ahrendts, CEO of Burberry, as the recipient of the inaugural Westphal Award, one of the University’s highest honors, for her leadership at Burberry and for her humanitarian work through the Burberry Foundation. Ahrendts will be presented with the award on Wednesday, May 2, as part of an all-day program at Drexel University’s Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design where she will also be the 2012 Distinguished Speaker of the Year.  During her visit, Ahrendts will meet with faculty and students, attend design critiques and visit the site of the College’s new home, The URBN Center.  The day will conclude with a public event at the Bossone Research Center (33rd and Market Streets) where Ahrendts will participate in an interview with 2011 Distinguished Alumni award winner Judith E. Glaser at 6 p.m.  At the presentation, Glaser will speak with Ahrendts about her career, her time at Burberry and the company’s strategy. The presentation will be followed by an open question and answer session with the audience.“I am thrilled to have the chance to spend time at Drexel University’s Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design,” said Ahrendts. “Speaking with students is a continued source of inspiration for me and for Burberry, and I am looking forward to meeting and sharing what I have learned with the future leaders of this dynamic industry."The event is free and open to the public.
