A team of undergraduate students from Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business will be traveling to Detroit, Mich., as finalists in the Chevrolet College Marketing Challenge. The students will present a marketing plan to executives from Chevrolet, and communications agencies Campbell Ewald and McGinn MS&L, as they vie for top honors in Chevrolet’s “Green Marketing to the Youth Market.” The marketing proposal promotes the venerable automobile manufacturer’s fuel-efficient, environmentally friendly and technology advanced vehicles to the 18- to 30-year-old demographic. The Drexel students were selected from more than 50 college and university teams that participated in the competition. The Drexel team – sophomores Abby Dineen, Stevland Polite, Elizabeth Kantner, and Shawn Engmann – created a media/marketing plan that includes a T-shirt design contest, advertising on Facebook and Myspace, filming a “he/she looks good in green” commercial, and establishing a Web site: www.ilookgoodingreen.com. The proposal also calls for a tour that will transport the environmentally friendly car to the six most populous cities in the nation. The teams are competing for their proposals to be integrated into a Chevrolet marketing campaign, cash prizes and possible opportunities to intern at Chevrolet, Campbell Ewald, or McGinn MS&L.
